Great Ocean Road Holiday - Day 1

When we went to Mount Gambier earlier this year the kids kept commenting that Grandma and Grandpa would love to see some of the places and things that we were seeing. We weren't planning on taking another family holiday so soon after our last one but the idea came up to go along the Great Ocean Road while Buzz's parents were visiting for Caitlyn's 8th Birthday and baptism.  We researched the idea a bit and almost gave up because it seemed to hard and too expensive to find accommodation for 10 people (my parents came as well because we can't all fit in our car).  In the end we decided to stay in Mount Gambier for one night, Warranabool for a night and then stay in Apollo Bay for a week and explore from there. It turned out great! We all had a fantastic time and got to explore a gorgeous part of the country.

So day one started pretty early. We headed off at about 5:30am and headed to our first stop which was the Narracorte caves. The kids had loved seeing the caves before and were excited to show their Grandparents.

Photo Bomb!

After the Narracorte caves we made a quick detour to see the Tantanoola Caves. We love these cave because they do a quick tour but then they let you wander around and have a look for as long as you want to.

We then headed to Mount Gambier for some late lunch and a look around the Umperston sinkhole during the day.

This little guy was already out and about looking for food.

So glad I married this guy! He makes me laugh every day!

Looking up at the bee hives.

Such a cute couple. I have the most amazing parents in the world.

This just doesn't look quite right!

My parents getting into the selfie groove and Buzz wiping bird poo off his head!

We did a quick stop at the Cave Gardens before heading to the Blue lake which at this time of year isn't really very blue!

Jumping shot!

Such a cutie! Not sure about that guy in the background though!

While Dad and I climbed Centenary tower Buzz took everyone else down to the playground. The kids were very excited to go there again. This is one of their favourite pieces of equipment to go on.

After the playground it was starting to get late so we headed to the motel to check in and then headed out to the sinkhole again to feed the possums. We didn't see as many as we have in the past but there were still plenty out and about wanting some food.

After that it was time for some dinner. We decided to go to the House of Schnitzel. All of my kids love schnitzel and it's one of Sandy's favourites so we thought it was the perfect place. This time Lachlan wanted to try and eat the MEGA size all by himself. He is so skinny and small you wouldn't think that he could fit it all in. . . . . .

. . . . . . . but somehow he managed to eat the whole schnitzel, all his chips and he even had ice cream for dessert! I don't know where it all fit!

After our early morning we were all feeling pretty tired so we headed back to the motel to relax and go to bed.
